Name: Mark Alan Horvath
Age: 38
Residence: The South End, Boston, Mass
Education: B.S. Physics, B.S. Astronomy, Pennsylvania State University

PhD, ABD, Astronomy, University of Massachusetts
Profession: . Generally I am described as a "generalist" meaning I solve problems. Right now I'm doing a series of software and security contracts. It's interesting work and lets me forestall the day when I have to decide what I want to be when I grow up. The above picture was taken in Paris which I got to visit while I worked for my last full-time job, CertCo. CertCo stopped being an ongoing concern last winter, except of course to the investors.
Hobbies: Well, other than Bryce... I'm still doing amateur astronomy, weight lifting, and attempting to put myself through a genuine art education.. I occasionally dabble in things like quantum gravity and interstellar chemistry, but only at the dilettante level. I was recently at a party where I was talking about art when one of my former colleagues smirked at the idea. I take this as a good sign since pretty much everything she has ever dismissed out of hand has turned out to be a great idea in the end. ;)
I have also, in my dotage, started playing around at being a Circuit Boy. Unfortunately I am way too fond of Chinese food and chocolate cake to make a good run of it, but it has been fun trying and the music is fun to dance to.
Art Background: Still working on a formal art education. These days it's photo realism, architecture and "classical" art. I still haven't got the hang of abstracts yet...
TV Shows: For better or worse a lot of us define a person by what they watch or don't watch. I knew someone once who told me he would never, ever let his kids watch TV. I asked him why and he said he had seen some shows which offended his moral senses. I nodded and said I had the same experience with a book once and gave up reading let I see an idea I didn't like. He didn't get it.
I only have time to watch about 5 shows on a regular basis. They are not, as they say, intellectually heavy:
The Simpsons, Futurama, Enterprise (which is actually pretty good all things considered), Farscape, and Will & Grace when I can catch it.
Favorite person on the planet: No contest. My son Geofferey. (That's 3 years running now!) At 16 he is finishing his senior year of high school, getting ready for college and in general doing normal teenager things.
